Term Definition
Waist-to-hip Ratio

The distance around the waist divided by the distance around the hips. A ratio of 0.80 or less is desirable (0.90 for men) and greater than 1.0 is considered at risk. See also abdominal obesity.

Warfarin

an anticoagulant (blood thinner) that interferes with the blood's ability to clot; sold under the brand name Coumadin

White blood cell

White coat hypertension

High blood pressure caused by anxiety developed during a visit to a physician. Unlike true hypertension, white coat hypertension does not increase your risk for a heart attack. It is more common in women than in men.
